About the Couple:

Dave and Carly both grew up in the small village of Pleasantville just outside of NYC. While their houses were just around the corner from each other their love story is a little less straight forward.

Dave grew up as the youngest of two boys. He had the most loving childhood whose best memories come from the summers he spent up at Sebago Lake in Maine. Dave has never been overly competitive but he did enjoy wrestling, football, and weight lifting from a young age. Where Dave really found passion was with music, particularly guitar. After deciding that he didn’t love his degree in computer science Dave ventured off to Berklee College of Music where he graduated and entered the music industry. After the untimely passing of his hero, his Dad, Dave wanted to pursue his true passion on physical therapy. With the support of his family, and by this point Carly, Dave made it through the DPT program at Dominican College all while starting his very own business, Will-Power One-on-One training.

Carly is the youngest of three kids. She grew up splitting her time between NY, family in OH, and anywhere else in the world that she could convince her family to travel. Besides the gift of life, the greatest gift her parents ever gave her was the ability to experience the wide breathes of the world from an early age. She attributes her outlook on life to what she has learned from her travels. When Carly was not out getting lost in the world (and with her naivety and poor. sense of direction this happened often) she enjoyed soccer, basketball, and hiking. Following in the footsteps of her family Carly received her BSN in Nursing from NYU before pursuing her Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Dominican College.

How these two people became a united front is unconventional. It took Carly’s dad climbing Mount Everest to meet back in 2012. With Carly overcoming a pretty rough series of events she settled on getting back into shape as an initial stepping stone to recovery. The first year of 2012 consisted of Dave being terrified Carly would injure herself on the elliptical and Carly thinking that guy training her Dad was named Mike. Somehow, friendship eventually developed.

Perhaps friendship is all this story would be if it were not for a mutual friend thinking there was something between Dave and Carly from the very beginning (which to this day both Carly and Dave deny). This friend, Stephanie, took it upon herself to plant a seed in Daves ear that Carly loved him and Carlys ear that Dave loved her. Still, years and other relationships passed by where Carly and Dave were happy just being friends.

A bodybuilding show in 2015 is where this story took a turn from friendship to relationship. After seeing the gym bully flirting with Dave, Carly realized that her feelings were a little bit more than that which come with a friendship. For the first time in her life Carly made the first move and expressed her feelings to Dave in which his response was a flat out rejection (Dave sees this differently). Still there was an undeniable friendship present which is why Dave invited Carly and her friend to his favorite place in the world, Maine, to celebrate the 4th of July. A night of good food and fireworks ended with an attempted kiss and rejection from an off-guard Carly (who thought at this point they were in the friend zone).

Like all superstitious stories, the third time is the charm. After returning home to Pleasantville Carly and Dave went out for sushi and the rest is history. Now, in the year 2021, they have merged their lives together after living in three apartments, two houses, with 4 adopted animals and surviving changed careers, PT school, the start of new businesses, hospitalizations, and countless adventures both locally and internationally to get to where they are today.
